Web designing is a very traditional way of print publishing. A website is like a container which has information on display, just like the book, and each webpage is similar to the page that is in the book. However, in web designing there is a framework used which is based on a display technology and a digital code to build and make an environment which can be used for distributing information in different formats. Considering its complete potential, web designing is without a doubt the most popular and increasingly complex way to help communication in this world today.
The basic requirements for designing a typical website are:
- The Content: Information and substance given on the web site has to match with the site and also has to target that section of public with which the website is concerned.
- The Usability: Website has to be very user-friendly. The navigation and interface should be very reliable and simple.
- The Appearance: The text and graphics have to be constant i.e. a single style has to be followed throughout to display consistency. The style should be relevant, appealing and professional.
- The Visibility: The site should be simple to find at least through the common search engines if not all as well as through the advertisement media.
A typical web site consists of image and texts. The very first page of the website is called as Home page or even Index. Some websites use a Splash page. This Splash page may include the language, region selection, disclaimer or a welcome message. Every web page which is there in the web site is nothing but a HTML file which will have their own URL. Once a web page is made, they are then typically linked using the navigation menu made from hyperlinks. Since the speed of browsing has become fast it has led to a shorter attention span and more of online visitors. This in turn has intended in lesser use of earlier mentioned splash pages, especially when commercial websites is concerned.
Once the website is completely created, the next step is to publish it or else upload it so that it can be viewed by public through the internet. It is basically done with the usage of a FTP client. After publishing, a web master might use various techniques to get a rise in the number of hits the web site should receive. This procedure might include submission of the required web site to any of the search engines. Search engines include names like Yahoo, Google or Bing.
